Vibrance, Character and Love
What an incredible day, shooting for the genius sonic creators, Fraidé. Vibrancy, character and love - the band is fused together yet so genetically flowing in their veins.
With the run up to this shoot, a fair amount of preparation was crafted, from Fraide arranging outfits and also sieving through some of my own personal collection! to drawing on the iPad rough sketches of the arrangement for the day, but of course as you know I’m one led by intuition so a lot more angles, arrangements and ideas came forward for both myself and also the band- an incredible day delivering what was truly a magical collection of press shots, the first to their name.
5am, it’s begins. Makeup time by the talented Angga, getting Anggit, lead vocalist into the persona, a smoky elegance accentuating the natural beauty and structure of her face.
As part of the lead up to the day, we were testing the times of natural sunlight to cast the exact shadows we desired for the end outcome. So once makeup was sorted and the rest of the band had settled into the shoot location, outdoors lights were setup to accompany what a gorgeous sun that was creeping in that morning over the high wall. The goal was to not have anything harsh come in but also enough depth to the image from particular angling of the fill light.
In the middle of the day, we took a moment of reflection and we set the band up with the photographs so far that we had captured, it’s always a joy and I find it really does make them feel so much more connected to the end result I’m crafting for them. This also gives me an opportunity to explain what I will be doing to some of them to manipulate or edit the actual capture to best suit the end goal.
A day filled with love, appreciation, creativity and joy.
