Crafting a Vintage-Vibrant Brand for a Javanese Music Journey

Our recent collaboration with Fraidé, an exciting music band hailing from Java, Indonesia, centred on launching their latest EP with a distinct and cohesive brand identity. This project encompassed comprehensive branding, bespoke logo design, an immersive website experience, a dedicated photography project, and unique album art, with our founder, James, contributing to the lyricism, fuelled by his deep passion for music.

Branding: A Fusion of Eras

The branding for Fraidé was a deeply collaborative effort, aiming for a unique aesthetic that felt both vintage and vibrantly modern. This approach was carefully chosen to mirror the band’s distinctive sound, the arrangements of their music, the messages conveyed in their lyrics, and their overall artistic style. Each element of the brand was meticulously designed to ensure this core aesthetic resonated consistently across all touch-points.

Website: An EP-Centric Immersive Experience

For Fraidé’s first EP release, we developed a website exclusively dedicated to this milestone. The entire brand identity of the website is tailored to the EP, creating a focused and immersive experience for visitors. A key feature of the homepage is a live, moving version of the album art, transforming the site into an engaging and dynamic introduction to their music. This design choice fosters a strong sense of cohesion, as fans experience a consistent brand presence across various platforms.

We are excited about the future of Fraidé’s online presence, with plans already in motion to expand the site. Future additions will include a merchandise shop for fans and a dedicated press section for media inquiries.

A significant component of this project was the incorporation of a dedicated photography project. These visuals play a crucial role in telling Fraidé’s story and complementing their musical identity. Album Art: A Lyrical Reflection

The album art for Fraidé’s EP is more than just a cover; it’s a visual interpretation of the messages deeply embedded within the band’s lyricism. This artwork was conceived and created entirely in-house by our creative team. Furthermore, the captivating animation of the album art, featured prominently on the website, was also developed by our agency.

We believe in helping our clients fully visualise their projects. To this end, we provide detailed mock-ups, allowing them to see in situ how their brand and music will be presented to the world. This process helps solidify the vision and ensures alignment between our creative direction and the band’s aspirations.

Logo Design: Custom-Crafted Aesthetics

The logo for Fraidé underwent significant custom development. Our design process was iterative, focusing on achieving the exact vintage-yet-modern aesthetic that the band envisioned. The result is a unique mark that perfectly encapsulates their identity.

EP Release and Future Endeavours

Our creative partnership with Fraidé is an ongoing one. We are actively working with them in preparation for the EP’s official release and are already looking ahead to their first full-length album.
